In today’s episode of Shelf Indulgence Book Chats, we talk with Dalia Monterroso. You know her as The President of Chickenlandia, but her non-feathered friends call her Dalia. Today’s guest is author, speaker, podcaster, special education teacher, mom, and overcomer Melony Brown. Melony is passionate about igniting a fire in women to empower themselves to become overcomers through faith. Melony has authored two books. Her debut release, Challenges Won’t Stop Me, and her upcoming release, Keep Moving Forward. Both books are part of her Journey On series, interactive survival guides for overcoming and thriving.
Melony Brown’s debut release, Challenges Won’t Stop Me, is BIGGER than your typical devotional or self-help book. It is an invitation beckoning you to join her as a traveling companion to overcome hurdles, face your fears, and reset your mindset.
Written with a fresh perspective, there are “mile markers” rather than chapters in this beautiful metaphor. She provides the reader with “essential gear,” such as a map, binoculars, rope, a tent, a flashlight, and a travel log to remind the reader of the importance of preparedness. With the proper gear, we can accomplish anything.
Melony is at heart a teacher, coaching us through our trials and reminding us not only can we do hard things but we MUST do hard things – for this is how character is formed. Yet, she is not coaching from the sidelines. No ma’am. She is in the trenches with us, soldiering along with us every step of the way.
