Homeschooling & Mental Health

Bridging the Gap

Finding clinicians with the knowledge and understanding necessary to support homeschooling families through their professional practices can present a challenge. Here at It’s Homeschooling, we are working hard to help bridge this gap.

By creating a list of homeschool family-friendly providers, we aim to help ease the burden of seeking support services by doing some legwork for you.

Our sincerest wish is to offer families comfort, encouragement, and support by connecting homeschooling families with providers who are equipped to help meet their academic advising, assessment/testing, counseling/mental health, and tutoring needs.

It’s Only Homeschooling is proud to announce it is launching a sister website in early 2024, The Homeschool Counseling Network.

The Homeschool Counseling Network’s Mission

The Homeschool Counseling Network’s mission is to connect homeschooling families with free resources in the areas of academic advisement, assessment/testing, counseling/mental health, and tutoring to inspire, inform, and improve lives.

We accomplish our mission through writing (blog posts, books, and magazine articles), creating digital content (educational YouTube videos, online courses, hosting podcasts), public speaking engagements (podcast appearances, educational conferences, continuing education workshops), and planning and implementing our own online and in-person events.

What To Expect From The Homeschool Counseling Network (HCN)

As mentioned in our mission statement, you can expect all sorts of resources related to homeschooling and counseling. From mental health and counseling to academic advisement to psychoeducational testing and tutoring, HCN endeavors to be your go-to source for connecting with professionals.

The Homeschool Counseling Network aspires to be an ever-evolving resource website, welcoming new professionals to join its network on an ongoing basis. Our ultimate goal is to recruit homeschool family-friendly professionals from all over the United States who are committed to helping us fulfill our mission of providing free resource information in the areas of academic advising, assessment/testing, counseling/mental health, and tutoring.

This free resource information will include all sorts of media, including blog posts, vlog posts, free downloads, podcast interviews, and workshops.

Topics include pretty much anything related to the four aforementioned areas of academic advising (i.e., courses to take in high school, how to get into college, high school transcripts, career counseling), assessment and testing (i.e., learning disorders/disability testing, career interest inventories, ADHD assessment, etc.), counseling and mental health (individual, group, family, and/or couples’ counseling, therapy, and/or mental health treatment), and tutoring.

Our resource list is by no means exhaustive. The majority of the information added to the website will be determined by our community – meaning YOU, our fellow homeschool families! After all, we are here to serve YOU!

Join our mailing list, visit our social media, or leave us a comment letting us know which topics you want to know more about. We’d love to hear from you!

Who Are The Members of HCN?

For professionals who apply for membership to the Counseling and Mental Health Resource List, his or her professional license must be in good standing. If practicing under an associate level of licensure, the professional must include his or her supervisor’s name and license number on the application.

Licensed and credentialed professionals (counselors, marriage and family therapists, social workers, educators, psychologists, psychiatrists, professional coaches, and psychiatric nurses) who are approved for membership will be able to promote and advertise their professional practices to consumers who are seeking individual services. (**No actual services are provided through The Homeschool Counseling Network. We are a resource list only.)

The HCN website is just like us – always learning, always growing.

We will continue to update the Homeschool Counseling Website as new providers become available. Please know the resource lists provided are by no means exhaustive. We recommend all parents and families perform due diligence when seeking services from any provider.

In the meantime, It’s Only Homeschooling is honored to be both a member of and a servant to the homeschooling community. We invite you to join us on our journey to help make counseling and mental health resources and information more accessible.

Be sure to keep in touch and visit our website often, including our blog, our YouTube channel, or our Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest, or Linked In pages to stay informed of the latest developments on our newest project, The Homeschool Counseling Network.

Blessings,
