Remembering the Reason for the Season
The holidays can be a joyous but hectic time.
Whether you travel to visit family or have your home filled with the laughter of loved ones, the flurry of excitement can easily transform into overwhelm if left unchecked.
Abundance quickly becomes overstimulation with squabbles, tantrums, and meltdowns soon taking center stage. (And that’s just the overtired moms. 😉)
How do we celebrate and keep our peace, our focus, and our joy?
In order to help us (and our families) remember the reason for the season, we begin preparing our hearts and minds long before the turkey hits the table.
Imperfect Progress
Just like anything we want to do well, whether it is public speaking, playing a sport, or writing blog posts 😉, we must practice.
Practice provides opportunities for rehearsal. For us to examine areas where we need to make adjustments, allowing us the space to pivot as needed.
Practice allows for progress. For moments to pause and take notice of times and areas in which we need to grow while simultaneously giving thanks for the gains, we have already made, no matter how small.
Practice keeps us humble. A reminder that even on our best days we can fall short. And it’s ok when we do. (Thank heavens for grace.)

Train Up A Child
As homeschool parents, my husband and I teach our son many things. By far the greatest of these is cultivating a strong relationship with the Lord.
Investing in our child’s spiritual training is not only a form of discipleship but also a form of worship. Our children are on loan to us from God. It is our duty to lay the firm foundation of faith in our homes, sowing these seeds so that our children may continue to reap the bountiful fruit throughout their lives long after they leave our homes.
Sometimes, however, we understand the what that we need to do while simultaneously struggling with the how to do it.
