Our Audience
It’s Only Homeschooling is a free website devoted to supporting families who are homeschooling children with learning differences through advocacy, community, and resources.
Our target audience is homeschooling families of all kinds. A large portion of our audience is Christian homeschooling families, but secular guests will not be excluded.
Our Podcasts
It’s Only Homeschooling produces two podcasts, The Salt & Light SERVE Spotlight and Shelf Indulgence Book Chats.
The Salt & Light Serve Spotlight
Community Outreach is a topic that is very near and dear to my heart. My goal is to encourage fellow parents to make consistent service a healthy habit in their families. Encouraging others also holds me accountable for my service efforts in my home. 🙏🏻❤️
In September 2022, we launched The Salt & Light SERVE Spotlight, a series devoted to highlighting the service efforts of some amazing non-profit organizations, community outreach programs, individuals, and small businesses local to the DFW area and from across the globe.
Each month we feature a different nominee and hope to bring awareness to the good works of some amazing humans while also encouraging support.
Where/When To Listen The Salt & Light SERVE Spotlight airs on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month. RSS feed download is available wherever you prefer to download podcasts. Video versions are available here on our website and on YouTube.
Shelf Indulgence Book Chats
In May 2023, we launched our second podcast, Shelf Indulgence Book Chats. In this series, we chat with some amazing authors who have had a positive impact on the homeschooling community. We predominantly feature authors who are homeschooling parents of faith but it is not a requirement.
Where/When To Listen Shelf Indulgence Book Chats premiers exclusively on YouTube on the first Wednesday of every month. A library of previous episodes can be found on our website.
**IOH Podcast UPDATE**
While some projects are a part of our lives for years, others are meant only for a season. Such is the case with the two podcasts sponsored by It’s Only Homeschooling, The Salt & Light SERVE Spotlight and Shelf-Indulgence Book Chats.
As creator, producer, writer, and host of both of these podcasts, it is with a heavy heart that I feel the time has come for me to bid farewell to these beloved shows. I did not come to this decision lightly. I have met many wonderful authors and amazing individuals working to make the world a better place, one act of kindness or service at a time. I have learned and grown so much from the knowledge I have gleaned from these conversations.
In turn, I have devoted my best efforts to sharing the wisdom and insight I have gained from these interviews with the humble endeavor of encouraging others on their homeschooling school journey while inspiring others to make service a healthy habit.
New Beginnings
With every ending, there are also new beginnings. For me, this new beginning came about in January 2024 with the launch of The Homeschool Counseling Network (HCN). To learn more about how The Homeschool Counseling Network came to be, check out this video from our new YouTube channel.
HCN’s Mission
The Homeschool Counseling Network’s mission is to connect homeschooling families with free resources in academic advising, counseling, testing, therapy, and tutoring to inspire, inform, and improve lives.
We accomplish our mission through writing, creating digital content, hosting podcasts, public speaking engagements (podcast appearances, educational conferences, continuing education workshops), and planning and implementing our online and in-person events.
Bridging the Gap – HCN’s Vision and Purpose
Finding professionals with the knowledge and understanding necessary to support homeschooling families through their practices can present a challenge. At The Homeschool Counseling Network, we are working hard to help bridge this gap.
By creating resource lists of homeschool family-friendly providers, we aim to help ease the burden of seeking support services.
It is our sincerest wish to offer comfort, encouragement, and support by connecting homeschooling families with providers who are equipped to help meet their counseling, education, and therapy needs.
New Project, New Podcast
In addition to the above-mentioned projects, HCN also hosts a monthly podcast where we interview professionals in all areas of education, mental health, and therapy to help answer our audience’s questions and support homeschooling families on their home education journey. For more information on how to become a guest, click here.
Join Our Village
If you are a professional in education, mental health, professional coaching, or therapy, we’d love to have you apply to join our network! Membership is free and includes numerous opportunities to collaborate with HCN to help market your brand to the homeschooling community. From writing articles as a guest blogger to advertising your course or class with a guest vlog post to sharing your digital creations as part of our FREE Resource Library to participating in our public Facebook group, participation opportunities abound.
With the deepest gratitude, I thank you for your support as an audience. I am humbled to have met so many amazing humans throughout my time with these two podcasts. I have learned much and am excited to continue to learn more on my newest adventures with HCN. Always learning, always growing.
